Ronald G.'s Story

A New Life for me. I am now RERIRED, as of 09/01/07. I'm bulding Old School Hot Rods. RONALD G. ANDERSON BS/ME To be part of a professional team that is on the cutting edge, and has a positive impact on society and in the community. Self-knowledge is the discovery of the false. Once you discover something is false, you lose interest in it. You do not have to find what is true: when the false is discarded truth is there. In this way truth is its own solution. College PERSONAL STATEMENT OF RONALD G. ANDERSON BS/ME "With Nature, the bottom line is adapt or perish." "If you are not the lead dog, the scenery never changes!" I was drafted into the US ARMY in 1965 while in my senior year of high school. I completed my tour of duty in Vietnam, went into the work force and married. Eventually I obtained my high school diploma in 1983. That year I tested for a learning disability at University Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) and was found Dyslexic (with a Word Aphasia ). Dr. Judith Dettre and Dr. Van Vactor of UNLV requested that I consider pursuing a degree from UNLV. I subsequently obtained a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree in May of 1989. I majored in Earth Science with a minor in Special Education. I was placed on the Deans Honor Roll and received an Outstanding Academic Achievement Award by University President, Robert Maxim. I graduated from Lesley University of Cambridge, Massachusetts, with a Master of Education in Computers on May 20,1996. Currently employed by the Clark County School District, Las Vegas Nevada, since my graduation from UNLV, in 1989. Currently assigned to Bonanza High School, teaching Earth Science. For eight years I taught at Basic High School, In Henderson, Nevada, in the field of Science, English and Math in the Special Education classroom environment. Juvenile Court School for two years, as Special Education facilitator and teacher. I received six Teachers Perfect Work Attendance awards, and Letters of Accommodation and Recognition for Achievement of Excellence in the Classroom Environment. I have been recognized for instituting new programs within the classroom. Outdoor science curriculum, Computer science, Laser Disk application, Multimedia interaction, telecommunications, and the Internet (my web site and posting the Nevada State Proficiency Exam therein). s became an intricate part of my studies while pursuing a degree at UNLV. With the use of computers I was able to turn a learning disability into a strength. Computers enabled me to check, spelling, grammar and dictate my thoughts. I have since applied the use of computers in the classroom and home environment. My classroom environment has enabled students to start realizing their own potential. My background in computers and learning disability helped me in the classroom. Recognizing and understanding the difficulties students have, and by over coming my own disabilities. Talking with students in the classroom about things, I went through and how I over came them. Listening and following along when texts are read out lead helps to improved word recognition and the flow of the sentence. This insight give my students a greater incentive to learn. As an educator, my function is to teach, my goal is having my students leave with the incentive to read and enjoy education. Graduated from Lesley University of Cambridge, Massachusetts, with a Master of Education on May 20,1996. I continue my formal education acquiring an excess of thirty-two plus certified credits. Graduated from UNLV with one hundred eighty-six credits and have since continued my formal education. Licensed and certified to teach earth and biological science, computer PGM/LIT aka technology, and Special Education through the twelfth grade. The past fourteen years I haveworked as a cooperative consultant, special education teacher and regular high school earth, life, general and biological science. The continuation of my education will enable me to continue my fascination with and deeply motivated pursuit of computer education in the classroom. In order to assist in the achievement of this goal I need to progress in my field. As an educator I have an obligation to myself and to my students to continually carry on my education in computer development and the impact computers have on education, society and the environment. I have 7 kids and 6 grandkids. "The tragedy of life is not death, but what we let die inside us while we live." Rember, "With Nature, the bottom line is adapt or perish." "If you are not the lead dog, the scenery never changes!" My Web Pages are: survive.org, old-schoolrides.com RonaldGAnderson.com
